Really GAS'ing for a Spector. Problem is, I've never seen one in a store around here. Are there any basses that sound/feel similar to them that I would be able to play in a GC/Alto Music type store? Thanks! :hyper:

You can try guitar center online or look in classifieds here. Something similiar is tough. Kind of have their own unique feel. Warwick prolly closet but def different at least in this spector owners eyes. You could buy on3 form gc online and u could return it within 30 days if you dont like it.

There were no Spector dealears near me when I first got the bug, so I ordered my white Euro LX on faith from Bass Central after doing some homework & research.
One of the best decisions I've ever made. :bassist:
I now own four Spectors - two USA, & two Czech models, and my Spectors are pretty much all I play these days.
As Rebopmass stated, there really is nothing comparable to a Spector, either for feel, playability, or tone. Buying from GC would allow for a return if you didn't like the bass (not likely), but the best deal on a Spector would be to buy used. My used USA cost less than 1/2 of what my new USA cost, and same for my used vs. new Euro models.

Where in Jersey are you? Sam Ash carries Spector basses, and I usually see a couple of Legends hanging on the walls in both their Springfield & Edison stores.

Edit - I notice Alto Music is mostly in & around NYC, so I'm guessing you're in North Jersey. Probably no more than an hour drive to either, particularly the store in Springfield.

I'm in North Jersey. I'll definitely be checking that out! I'm going to be in right near Springfield next week - it's right next to my girlfriends school. Thanks!

I only played a passive bass since I started in the late '60s. When a few years ago I decided to try an active bass ( I know, shades of Rip Van Winkle here) I bought a Czech-made Spector. It was a good move. It's head and shoulders a better instrument than my vintage Fender. I now want a new NS-2.
