I already have the Black Stain Matte, this is my backup/alt tuning bass.

When you are under the stage lights, and the light guy wants to use a lot of reds and yellows, the moss green turns in to grey mud. With the Nightshade grey these same stage lights will bring out the grain and may otherwise enhance the appearance of the bass on stage.

Neither! Gimme a Boomer Burst or natural/amber colour!
I have this as my simi-vintage one. It’s all maple and has a clean EMG BTS preamp. Great recording bass

You have a valid point, the matte finishes mellow out on stage in general.
