I find it very funny that you just posted this as I watched "Spinal Tap" last night for the first time in roughly 25 years. I had forgotten all about the "Big Bottom" song and that they all play basses on the song and that the bass player played this double necked bass.
I was going to post about it earlier today but didn't.
Fate??? Hmmmmmm
with that bass, you could play bass lines on one neck;
and then play bass lines on the other neck.
So. Cool.
It's like, how much more cool could this be? And the answer is none. None more cool.

There should be a rule that to be allowed own this, you must have mutton chops and a cucumber wrapped in foil in your pants.
At one time or another, I have had both.

I love that the bass was not made as a gag for the film, but in all seriousness.
I once read that Yes did a song where both Squire and Howe played bass. I always wondered if Big Bottom was a parody of that.
