Squier active jazz deluxe 5 string bridge pickup quiet

Hey, on my squier jazz deluxe, the bridge pickup is really quiet, like 80% less volume.

its not because the pickup is really low, it is about the same height as the neck PuP (probably 4mm away from string).

i cant see anything wrong with wiring (1volume, 1 tone, 3band EQ)

Is it more likely to be a dodgy Pickup?

Normally you have to put the bridge pickup closer to the strings than the neck pickup to get equal volume between the two pickups, because the strings vibrate over a much wider area (and thus produce more signal) in the middle than at the ends.

I'd put my money on the PUP blend pot. The pots they put into these basses are veritable garbage. I've had to spray my volume pot with contact cleaner to get the bass to stop crackling! Not sure what you could do to a pickup that would cause it to suddenly break. Bottom line - if you have contact cleaner, I'd try that on the pot first before replacing anything IMHO.
