I recently purchased a Squier Vintage Jazz V that seemed to play very sweet, but after a while I started having problems from the 12th fret to the 17th. I took it to my local Fender dealer to have it checked out and set up and found out that the neck is warped between the 12th and 17th fret on the G & D strings.
The store I purchased it from wouldn't warrant the problem and refused to acknowledge that it even had a problem. (Well, we pushed the string down and seemed okay to me and my manager.... From Guitar Center, of course. Not going there again!)
After taking with Warmouth and The STRATosphere, I've come to find out that the Affinity neck pocket is different from a standard Fender neck pocket, so there's no direct replacement, you have to modify the neck pocket.
Has anyone done this and what were the finished results? I have a hard time trying to justify spending $500+ on a replacement neck for a bass that costs $349.00....
