There is something of a cult following for these basses. They are remarkably good looking and play and sound terrific. They were introduced and the sales of Fender Precision V diminished so much that the Squier was discontinued after 2 years IIRC. This one came to me in quite good shape. It did have a chip in the finish on the back of the neck (blue tape marker in the photo) and I repaired it with super glue. It is not perfect but now you don't feel the chip while playing the bass. The body finish at the edge of the neck pocket also had a small chip that I touched up with black paint and, as you can see, uh....it is almost impossible to see. It weighs 9 pounds, 6 ounces. The hardware is in excellent condition as you can see in the photos.

I installed CTS pots, Fender knobs and a new pickguard. The original pickguard was cracked at the output jack. One of the few engineering mistakes Leo made that is still perpetuated today.

Not looking for trades unless you have an Ibanez GWB you'd like to work out a trade on.

The bass has Ernie Ball Cobalt flats on it and plays and sounds great. It ships in a sturdy generic case and the price includes shipping to the lower 48 states. PayPal is okay. Local pickup is available for the discounted price of $400.

I didn’t know the "why" behind this bass being discontinued but I can vouch for the awesomeness of it.

I have this exact bass and it is on my never sell/never trade list. Phenomenal instrument. GLWTS!

"They were introduced and the sales of Fender Precision V diminished so much that the Squier was discontinued after 2 years IIRC" - ah, never heard that; makes sense....

I own one of these, it's my gigging P5. The neck is really good ...

GLWTS! ;)

I've owned 2. I agree with everyone about making a bass for $1k less
Makes sense

Aw man. If I lived close to you, I'd be all over this!

- I loves me a classic 'burst

- Maple is my 'board of choice these days, plus, I am mainly into 5-strings

- According to the TB hive-mind, everyone needs a P-bass (strung with flats, apparently :D)

- There must be something pretty special about it if Fender pulled the plug on production after only two years due to flagging sales of their "real" P-bass :roflmao:

GLWTS, too bad shipping is so horrendous these days (and I'm in Canada to boot...)
