Squier vs. Peavey vs. Ibanez

[King's Squier]

I'm looking for a good starter bass in the $200-$300 range, and I've narrowed my choices down to the Invalid Link Removed, the Invalid Link Removed or the Invalid Link Removed.

The sounds I'm looking for are all over the place, from the Descendents to blink-182 to Red Hot Chili Peppers to Led Zeppelin, Tenacious D and even Metallica. Basically, Funk/Punk/Hard Rock, and I'm assuming the Jazz would be best, due to the versatility. However, I'm not sure, as most reviews I see are "DIS BASS ROX BUY BUY BUY", or list bands I don't care for as to its sound. What, in your experiences, would be good?

Millenium IMAO it's the best there. You buy it, you got something gig worthy and easy to play. It's easily worth 100$ more it's that good for the price IMO, way underrated, also can play those genres fairly well too. All of them are good basses though.

hunt for a usa millenium, after playing it im sure you will pay for it, if you dont like the millenium the vm jazz is probably your next best bet

I'd keep an eye out for an older American Peavey. I really don't care for the new ones from the 3 manufacturers you mentioned other than the Peavey Cirrus line.

I always liked Peavey's... but never had a thing for any Ibanez.

I would say go with the Peavey!

Have you considered a Yamaha? Just thought I'd throw that into the mix.

The only Yamaha my local store has is the RBX170, and I wasn't too fond of it.

Every peavey Millenium I played was just horrid..

For it price, Peavey got a very decent sound
