Squiers...Chinese or Indonesian?

Just hoping you all can help me out here.

Saw two virtually identical used Squier Affinity P-basses in a local music store over the weekend, and tried them both out. Both had minor setup issues, but overall they were very playable. I was actually quite surprised by the build quality of both of them. Heel pocket fit wasn't exactly 'perfect' but still both appeared to be sturdy.

One was stamped Crafted In China, and the other one Made In Indonesia. (I don't remember enough about them to figure out what year each was made.) Since either of these would work as a backup/beater bass, I'm curious if one of those would be one to stay away from. IIRC, the Chinese ones were horrible up until the turn of the century, and the Indonesians were supposedly better than the rest of the overseas ones.

Any input would be helpful.

Quality on both locations is looking pretty good right now.

The CVs are "Crafted in China", for what it's worth.

All I can tell you is both my 2010 VM Squiers, a J and a P, both CII, are of teriffic quality.

Mine was "crafted in Indonesia", and I love it. However, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about CII or CIC. I'd play them both, and pick what I considered to be the better bass for my taste. Regardless where it was made. I don't worry about country of origin anymore. There's good stuff coming from pretty much everywhere right now.
That said, I'm more into building than buying. My next bass won't be purchased. I'll build it from the ground up instead. (It'll still be a P style, however.)

I think the MII weren't that great, I remember my godson had one Made In Indonesia, the Crafted in Indonesia seem to get with the value priced with great quality...My VM is CII.

Eh I see no real difference, now older MIJ or MIK ones get my attention more.
