Squire Mike Dirnt P

There is a Road Worn version out now seems kind of intriguing, wonder if it is light like the other RW models. I found the early Dirnts to be to heavy and the neck to thick.

I have a 2003 Fender MD and a 2013 Squier MD.
The Fender is a little heavy, about the same as my Squier VM Telecaster. The neck is thicker than the Squier MD but not hard to play at all. Its the best sounding bass I have ever owned and Ive owned a lot of basses over the past 30 years. It has more of a grindy rock or funk sound even with flats.
The Squier is very light and with flats has a great thumpy old school R&B sound.

I had a Fender Dirnt P for awhile that I remember fondly. I lightened it by taking the BAII off of it and it still sounded fine, especially with Rio Grande 'Muy Grande P' pickups. It delivered the goods, but was a casualty of a recent P to J neck purge when I decided to skinny up all my necks. It was narrower at the nut than a classic P neck but noticeably wider than a J neck. Good bass that always got noticed for the right reasons.

I don't own one, but I played one of the newer ones in a shop recently for about twenty minutes whilst my friend was buying some guitar gear.

The fit and finish was good, I loved the neck on it. Felt like it was punching above its weight price wise. I'd happily have bought it and gigged it had I had a need for it!

I bought the squier mike dirnt a few months ago to use for a solid grab and go bass. I've got 8-10 gigs in on it now and I'm comfortable saying that it's a great sounding p bass. I did swap out the vol/tone pot/input jack- but kept the stock pickup. The bass plays well, stays in tune, and generally sounds great. I picked it out of a pile of squiers because it really growled when you dig in. While it's not taking the place of my '66 P, for the money it is a great bass.
