Squire Or Not

Anyone have any information on this bass? It's advertised as a Fender Squier but I don't recall Squier ever making a bass with this head stock? The body shape is also not something I recall in the Squier line?

Some of them came with a fairly ugly skull n' crossbones logo/inlay.

Same headstock on my drummers 5er. About the some body style but it has active J pickups.
