Anybody else as excited by this bass as I am? I've been wanting a P/J 5 String for a long time. And this one looks to be selling for $299 new. Almost seems too good to be true. I can't wait to try one.

They don't make this model anymore, I have one, it's a great playing bass. I replaced the bridge with a Fender Hi-Mass unit and I love it. I have the transparent red version, it looks great.

You can find them for sale on some websites still, but it's not currently listed on the Squier website as a current model.

That's weird. I definitely saw ads that it was coming out in February 2018. Now they're not available. I don't see it now. I wonder if they pulled the model if presales didn't hit a mark they set.

Looks pretty cool. I like the 4+1 traditional headstock with clover tuners. Hope they sell enough of them so as they don't discontinue them.

I replaced the bridge with a Fender Hi-Mass unit, here's a few pics of the install process. I think the Fender bridge is 19mm spacing, so you should be good to go!

New bridge lines up with factory holes with no issue, no drilling!!

The screws that came with the Fender bridge were a little bit longer, so I used those. Looks great installed, and the chrome finish is much better than the Squier pot metal.

Beautiful. How do the stock pickups sound? String noise/clicky?

I was thinking if they were crap I'd just replace them with Noordys.

That new bridge looks like a great idea. Better looking and probably better sustain.

It's hard to speak about the natural sound of the pups because they go through an active pre-amp (bass boost only). Cutting the bass boost to 0 makes it sound thin and weak, with the bass boost at halfway up, the pre-amp sounds good. I usually place the boost at 1/2-3/4 up, depending on song/situation.

The new bridge weighs twice as much as the old one, and I agree it looks much better. Sustain? This thing sustains well anyways with the fat neck and wider body. The strings on it now with the new bridge are D'Addario NYXL, and for the money, I don't recommend them. My next set of strings are going to be what came on the bass, Fender 8250M 5 string set. The taper B, well the whole set, sounded better IMO.

Hello lowended1!
Can I ask how much your Squire Vintage Modified Jaguar V weighs?
Thanks!
