2. Gold is a "stable" investment like Amy Winehouse is sober. Attached is a price chart for the XAU, major gold/silver index since 1984.
Eh, gold only retains as much value as people place on it--just like the dollar. And its price is really volatile as that of stocks, with a lower historical return. As far as the pound, who knows? European banks could end up looking worse than US banks--they have to deal with their own bad mortgages/housing markets, and they own some of ours, too.True, gold isn't totally stable, but it at least retains some value, unlike little pieces of green paper that aren't backed by anything. Foreign currency such as British pounds seems like a better investment than gold though.
Answer to your first question: Yes, it is possible. If this happens(collapse of the dollar), NSPD 51([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) will "go public" due to an "economic emergency". Read the PD. It is quite clear.Well is anyone else thinking that the dollar may collapse in the short-term and become worthless pieces of green paper?
Does anyone here invest in gold or have money in foreign banks?
