Stand up Bass VST MIDI ?

Hi
Looking for a Free (64bit) double bass vst for cubase 10
looking for a Bluegrass sound
I am looking for a friend that wishes to do more than a few songs, or I would just play the parts for him ...
anyway Need some help locating a free or nearly free bass vst

I'd be surprised if you didn't get a sampled DB with Cubase 10....check Halion.

With free, you always get what you pay for.

Have them download Komplete Start from Native Instruments. There should be something suitable in that package. It probably won't sound incredible, but for the price it should work well enough.

I did try the Halion for some reason it wouldn't play the midi file ... other stock C10 vsti would

Note the caveat on the Bolder page:

"* This library is NOT compatible with the free KONTAKT 5 & 6 sample PLAYER, only the full retail KONTAKT SAMPLER. It will only run in demo mode for 15 minutes on the KONTAKT PLAYER."

The full version of Kontakt is $400 and required to play this library. Unless he already owns Kontakt, the true cost of the library is $470. Welcome to the money pit of sample libraries

BTW, Halion doesn't "play MIDI files", Cubase does. If the MIDI file didn't play it might be in the wrong octave(s). Many sampled string libraries will only play notes within the range of the actual instrument. It's worth spending a few minutes figuring out why it didn't work and fix that before spending a lot of money on even more software. Just my opinion.

The Halion was linked to a Bass Midi track in Cube10.5 I saw that if the register wasn't correct you wouldn't hear the low notes, and I'm not sure how He wrote it.
I am trying Not to be "tech support"
I don't know much about Midi, but tried to help and got his Usb Piano working.... then it was fix this, can you do that and and and
I will go the extra Mile and spend a bit of time to get Halion working. It's strange as it works with other Bass VSTI's I'm sure I overlooked the one button Lol I been using use Nuendo2 and Reaper for 20years (it seems)
it's a bit different than Cubase 10... but the same

Going to give the VSCO2 Double Bass a Go and see what happens.

Nobody pays full price for Kontakt. Read some sampler/synth forums.
Pick up a lib that works with Kontakt Player then crossgrade to full Kontakt.
Read a forum but I think people use this as a path to the crossgrade these days:

Then look for the "free" or cheap libs.

With Kontakt or better yet : Komplete you end up with many professional and useful sound libs included. It is so often that people own the full Kontakt that companies like Boulder sound don't bother creating a "player" version - everybody owns the "full"

You'll probably end up in the long run buying several different brand samplers and libs from several companies.

And there are some very good physical modeling sounds that are not samples

It's complete in itself, no sampler is needed to load into as it is not samples.

You could create a sampled instrument in Logic using Upright Bass samples from Splice, Loopcloud, YouTube, etc. There's plenty of people on YouTube playing upright Bass with really good sound quality. Logic makes it easy to chop up and modify samples to make your own instrument.

I see on Loopcloud, Tsunami Tracks Sounds have a whole bunch of single shot Upright Bass samples.

I got His Helion going ... errr It's ok on faster songs lol but yeah It's free sooo.
It's 25 miles to his house to fix it sooo simpler the better, and tech savvy He's not.
Im reading and hearing about all the new Vst Instruments, Holey Cow there have come along way !!!
I may grab some of those for myself !

Vsco2 sound ok too but no finger playing, arco was it.
For a Guy that doesn't want to pay... he wants alot (slap) (and I mean in the head)

I downloaded all the Kontakt stuff last night for myself. I will explore the 3rd. party libraries. tonight. This is gonna be a blast
I'm listening to the Leonid Bass Jams I love it ! Yeah who needs other instruments LOL

I'm gonna need a Midi Controller now, one with the wheel.
I have a junky piano I used years ago to add trombone to a Shaffer beer type song but had to manually slide the pitch. I see some Maudio ones Cheap! I guess that would work ok for Me goofing around.

NI offers crossgrades if you own another sampler and not all apply, Kontakt Player is not eligible for sure...after all it's free. To the OP, feel free to suggest your friend looks into the crossgrades but it's still going to add a couple og hundred ucks to the cost of that library.
