Static Buildup With DR Neons

I put a set of yellow DR Neons on my P Bass. Love the look, love the sound.

One thing: when I move my fretting hand along the strings, it sounds like there's a static-y electrical click that comes through the amp. It's not loud, but it's there, and I've never had it with any other strings on this bass.

I think static is building up in the plastic the strings are made of and occasionally discharging.

Has anyone experienced this, and what did you do? Any advice?

If your bass is experiencing static electricity pops/discharges then the solution is a proper shielding job. I have used neons, have a set on one of my basses right now, and I have never had any issues from them mind. Mind you, all my basses are well shielded.
