In November, I bought a Markbass CMD 102P combo amp. Sounds great, and I love the portability for practices & small gigs. Several times while practicing at home, after playing awhile, there will be some annoying static coming out of the speakers. It will go away on it's own after a relatively short while; but troublesome nonetheless.
At a practice last week, after playing about an hour, I started getting real loud static. I shut down, and we took a break for about 10 minutes. After the break, I played for another hour or more without a recurrence.
So, it's an intermittent problem. It's been suggested that my bass has a grounding issue; or I'm using a bad cable. It's a nearly new Sadowsky UV70. However, I've gotten the static with the Sadowsky and two passive MIA Fenders ('75 Jazz reissue and '75 P-Bass). I've used several different Monster cables, and I've gotten the static occasionally with all combinations of basses/cables. Therefore, I think it's something in the amp. It's also occurred at my home, and at the home of one of the guitarists. No florescent lighting around at either location to my knowledge.
Admittedly, I'm a moron when it comes to electronics. So what do you guys think? Any suggestions? I'm planning on taking it back into G.C.; but I'm afraid they'll say they can't duplicate the problem. And it IS an intermittent thing. It'll sound great for quite awhile, then act up.
