Stay warm and safe

I'm glad I shoveled what snow we got, which was about 6 inches. No biggie, even though I did it the old fashioned way. Got a 50 foot long driveway and a semi-circle in front of the house to fit two cars. My neighbor said starting at about 2:00 we have the potential for getting up to 10 more inches!

We'll see!

That's a trip , since I've both retained both my balls since they've dropped, and my ability to shovel. I think I'll be juuust fine.

Dang man, I live in the (usually) sultry south and even us hayseeds have discovered the many devices attached to an internal combustion engine designed to make the shovel obsolete.

Down here we call one of them a tiller.

Oh and BTW down here it was not bears, it was dinosaurs we had to fight both ways on the 20 mile walk (uphill both ways) to get to school, but only in winter. Never had any prob with them in summer so all I can figure is they went north to escape the heat.

Here's Wal-Mart as of last night for ya:

I lived in south florida during the 80's and I remember this scene just before an impending hurricane, unbelievable.
I thought the bottom photo was rather telling, very funny

We're expecting wind chills in the -40s tomorrow in Chicago. We've had a good bit of snow, but that's not a concern as they're very good about plowing here and we live in the city, where steady traffic melts off some of it.

I can do everything I need to for work from home tomorrow, so I'm staying in. But I'd go in if I had to.

I'm dreading grocery shopping today (it's our normal day to go). I don't understand the crazy long lines, it's not like anyone's going to be snowed in for weeks on end here.:rollno:

up here thats called January, do south of the borderers always panic when a little weather shows up? **** last winter i did a 10 day outside job at -59, granted it was nasty , but I got it done.

Oh, I know it, but I feared my primal, shovel prowess being called into question. Not worth your salt if you cannot both manually scoop the frozen hell AND kill said bears and dinosaurs with the business end of said shovel. ;)

Hey, they've forecasted a negative 22 wind chill for tomorrow. That's way below our winter average. Brrrrrrrr.

Well, about two months ago I read that 2/3 of the country was suppose to experience a winter that's "biting cold." Temp's are in the 20's right now where I live, but we're suppose to start feeling the real cold sometime tonight. I was just outside shoveling...again...and it didn't feel bad.
