Never used steel and guts together.Jargar dolce E and A with D and G guts.they really work well together, sound is great,the best ive heard my bass sound.Nice and thumpy with note definition on the lower end,but not bright like a modern steel strings.My wife thought i was playing through an amp volume wise, when i told i was not she said "well thats gonna piss the neibours off".So yeah a great combo of steel and gut.
