My theory is that lower notee should be closer to the earth and the higher notes be closer to the sky. That, and I was a lefty learning in the early 70's when left handed options were harder to find.That's amazing... and just, well... FRICKIN' COOL as heck!!

Did you fit the Audere and a battery into that tiny cavity, or did you add a battery box too?
My B2V is getting new PUs soon, probably routed to EMG40 to give more choice.
Wait till you see my $6 CF strap extender; the CF I ordered is long enough for 2 of them. Mine won't have the redneck chic of yours though.
To get the REAL redneck chic, you have to use it for it's intended purpose first and leave a bit of greese on it. Sadly, I skipped this step.
yup. It all fit in the existing cavity. The Audere uses lower height, pre wired pots. It all tucked in nicely after testing. I did have to enlarge two holes slightly to accommodate the stacked pots.
Actually under $100 for a solid brass replacement headpiece is pretty reasonable.

If you mod a Spirit, you have to get used to spending amounts that are a considerable percentage of the purchase price of the bass.
Especially if you bought them new back in the early 2000's MusicYo days.

he cut me a deal.....$80 US delivered on a brass unit.
This! I think I paid something like $225 new back then.
My 2000 XZ-2 was $225 and I spent $225 on the EMGs! I then spent $40 on a set of Status roundwounds. I had $490 in the bass, which qualified it as a very nice mid-range instrument back then.
I wouldn't want to spend much more money on it. The EMGs are plush. I have thought about a string adapter for it, and the XZ-25s, but I don't play them often enough to worry about the availability of double-ball strings. Although- the $80 adapter mentioned here recently is a nice-looking piece, better than the the little block adapters.

Here's the 5-string version, I provided the specs and he milled them for me. The 2nd version has a little more mass and work great.
Just curious. On mine I have a .135 and I had to file it a bit to get it to fit. I have a .140 in one of my other sets; it would need the same treatment. The .146 of my Kalium set would most likely not fit.
Well, this is done. Received the head adaptor. Installed in 5 mins. Put the Elixirs on. There's nothing left to do but play it.
Just a bit of detail on the cost of this whole endeavor…..
- NEW bass STOCK- $535 delivered ( from Japan to US as no white ones were to be found here)
- Audere 3 Band - $ 139 delivered
- EMG HB Active pickups PAIR crème. $130 ( Open Box eBay)
- Standard string adaptor BRASS $80 delivered
- Schaller Strap lock buttons $8
- White Humbucker Pickup frames $8
- White peel and stick shelf paper to cover pickups $7
- Elixir Strings $22
Total finished product = $ 929
Although, I guess you could subtract the string cost as they're just standard maintenance
Basically doubled the cost of the new bass stock. Worth it? I guess I'll find out.
Will I ever get anywhere near that amount back if I sell it….definitely not. But, it'll make me some nice coin in my 80's band, absolutely look the part, and weigh 7 lbs all night. To me, thats well worth the $$$. And it sounds as good as its able to. I thinks there's very little I could have done to make it better.
