Steinberger String Jaw

Hello everyone.
I really need some help. My true love being my Steinberger XP-2, I was tuning my bass last night and the A string came flying off from the bridge.

I've tried tightening the string but the tuner just spins in circles. I'm really stressed out over this and need some help.

Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this?

Did you strip the threaded hole or the actual jaw? Replacement jaws are available - I haven't owned a Steinberger for a few years, but eBay usually had them.
