Double Bass Stella

This message is for Chris Fitzgerald. Hey Chris this is Tim Akin. Berts son. We bought your old bass from you a couple years ago. I finally started playing it and I can't put it down. I hardly play the electric now. I was wondering if you could tell me what year it was made and where.

Hi Tim,

Glad you've finally got the bug! Honestly, I have no real idea of the pedigree of that bass. When I bought it, I was told it was German, but most of the knowledgeable folks I met who saw it said that it was more likely a carved Czech, about 10 or so years old. I played the hell out of that bass (it's on the Java Men cuts on my site, and the older stuff at the bottom as well), and it always sounded great. So it looks like I broke up with "Stella" to marry "Tereza", and have no regrets. I'm glad you're enjoying spending time with her - she's a good girl. A bit broader in the shoulders than Tereza, but still very playable up and down the neck.

Hey Chris,
Thanks for getting back to me. It's really got a hold on me now. I wanted to know what kind of amp you would recommend , but I saw on you site that you use an acoustic image. I have two different Hartkes. The A100 and a B series the 120 watt with a 12" speaker. The upright sounds great with either. Where are you playing Friday night. I coming to Louisville to play a wedding with my brother on Friday afternoon. If we get done early enough we'll stop by.

I don't agree.
I like it. It says a bunch about how much we love our instrument. Love, care and family history. I think Stella's a *****.
New players can get alot of good stuff here.
