Stereo recording from android tablet

I've got a fairly new Android tablet, Lenovo Tab P11, that I've been bringing to gigs for reading charts. It occurs to me that I could also use it to record my gigs if I could get a decent-enough microphone and a recording app. The tablet has a USB-C jack.

Has anybody done this? It could also be with an Android phone, since it's the same OS. Any recommendations for a mic, app, etc?

I want to minimize the quantity of stuff needed, simply due to the motivation factor. If it involves a lot of gear and setup, then I'm likely to leave it at home.

I bought an SSL Connex USB mic. Using it with a MacBook Pro it has performed pretty well. I get 6 tracks of audio in Logic (a stereo mix, plus 4 individual microphones). It will work with Android devices also, however I think you only get to record the stereo (or mono) mix and not the 4 individual mics.

I have used Dolby On for an app, and had good results with that.

There’s a USB-C Zoom mic that’s similar to one of the mic modules that comes with their Handy Recorder that gets great audio. I have the lightning connector version for my older iPhone and it’s terrific (as long as you remember to put the phone in airplane mode, which shouldn’t be an issue on your tablet).

Indeed, built-in mics work fine, but the tablet is too close to the band when I'm reading charts from it. I should have mentioned that I need to be able to put the mic on a cable.

I don’t see why not, assuming USB-C is transport agnostic. Again, I don’t have that version. Might be a question for the fine folks at Zoom.

If it is, the good news is that there’s also a downloadable audio recording app that goes with the microphone—the OP mentioned they’d also be looking for an app and I forgot to mention above that it has one.

All good info. I found a stopgap, which I can use for trying out software: A so called "on the go" cable lets you plug things into the USB port of the tablet, and I tried it with an Audio-Technica USB microphone that was in the house. So that might work well enough until I find something more permanent.
