Stereo?

Hey Friends,

I have been wanting to try stereo output for a while... Where each pickup is on it's own separate channel, for recording. Kind of do the billy sheehan thing, where maybe the neck pickup is the fat track, and bridge is the articulate one. Or one is clean and one is driven or effected. But I would have to modify my bass, and I'm trying to figure out if it’s worth it.

To those who have tried it…

How do you use it?
What do you feel you get out of it?
Pitfalls?
Worth the hassle, in your opinion?

I currently spilt to 3 tracks after the bass and send clean/compressed/overdrive To the board. Compressed and overdrive can be changed to whatever depending on the song

I am looking at building a stereo output bass much as you described in the future however. Not cos the above method lacks just cos I wanna.

I am in a similar situation. Happy with my sound, but the idea of having each pickup on its own track just seems like it would be cool to experiment with.

Thinking of trying this with an SG, as it has two very different sounding pickups.
