Hello talkbass. Yesterday at my local music store they had a sterling by musicman SB14 for 549.99. I was wondering if any of you have anything positive or negative to say about it.

The "Bass whisperer" does a review of them on youtube. He's a MM fan through and through so I would trust his opinion on it. I've played them in GC and felt it was a good bass for an overseas copy. I'm saving up for an OLC version though.

During these dark coronavirus times I was randomly looking at the websites for some local music shops here in the northwest UK when I noticed an SB14 bass being offered as new by a local store. After much probing the best that they would admit to was that they had had the bass "for some time".
Anyway it was being offered at a very generous price that would have been rude to ignore so I decided to take a punt and relieve them of the burden of ownership. The bass took a surprisingly long time to travel 30 miles but when it arrived it was absolutely prisitine. Totally unmarked, sticker on the scratch plate and the protecive film too. Swing tags, not a sign of any use plus it arrived beautifully set up to boot.
The serial number tags it at a 2010 DOB. The bass also has a lovely satin finish neck up to the nut at which point it reverts back to gloss on the headstock. I had this on another SB14 I owned but the other one I had was finished in gloss all over.
The bass came with a pearl white pickguard that I didn't like so it has been sprayed matt black which worksfor me! Here are a couple of pics for you:
