Sterling Ray 5 vs Sterling Ray 35 Necks

Is the Sub Ray 5's neck anything like the Ray 35 neck?

I sold my Ray 35 because it was too heavy and I could not afford to keep it.

I used to just love the feel of that neck though.

Has anyone compared the two.

Also I am trying to find a budget 5 string with a neck somewhere between the Fender and Ibanez. The Fenders are toooo big and the Iby feels good, but I wish the string spacing was a bit wider like 17.5

I believe they both have the smooth unfinished necks. Plus the Sub 5s I played were nice and light.

The Ray5 has some pretty tight string spacing. I have not measured, but spacing is probably 17.5 or less. The Ray35 spacing will match the MM StingRay5 at 17.5.

i just put this fender bridge on my sub ray 5 bass. it has the same string spacing as a ebmm sr5 or sterling ray35. now my sub ray has the same comfy string spacing as the real deal. i put a couple of small black screws in the holes left by the original bridge at the front and its a done deal. if i want to go back to the original bridge, no problem, everthing is covered. there is no screw hole conflict if you chose the right spot for the fender bridge. this does work and works great. the base plate is a little thicker and the saddles are too, so the strings will only go so low without shimming. since i like really low action, i shimmed the neck at the bottom 2 neck plate holes and it was good to go.

check this out if the 2 1/2" spacing isnt working for you.

this bridge is not expensive !!!!
