Stewmac Shielding Paint Question

Hey all,

I've got an old tin of Stewmac shielding paint which I used regularly a few months back. I went to use it again recently and the paint inside has gone all lumpy, so I shook it around and stirred it up and it's almost back to it's normal consistency (still some lumps).

Just wondering if it will still be okay to use (i.e; still conductive) after having not used it for so long?

Should be Ok. Stew Mac recommends thinning it with water a little if it gets to that consistency. Speaking of which i Hope mine is still ok, i have a new project in the works.

Yes... The graphite is suspended in a liquid, (I forget what it is exactly, but I believe that it is water-based)... As the liquid evaporates, the consistency get lumpy... Like Joel says, adda bit of water... Shake or stir and you should be fine

Would you guys recommend the paint over the copper tape? I have some work that needs to be done, but can't decide which would be better.

I use copper if the cavity is a simple one like the J bass cavity. Paint if there is a lot of nook and crannies like a big control cavity. Actually I stopped using copper tape altogether due to the high humidity here, the copper came unglued from the adhesive backing and shorted my bass out during performance. I went from gut hitting punches to a weak buzz in no time
