Still looking for an analog delay

:help: I posted a thread a little while back looking for a comparison between 2 analog delays but have since decided against both... The one's I have on my list are:

Deluxe Memory Man
Memory Boy
Way Huge Aqua Puss
Subdecay Echobox - I can't figure out if this is part digital part analog or all digital :hmm:
Malekko 616

I would really appreciate any reviews/opinions of the ones above or any new contenders. Thanks.

I haven't tried the reissue Aqua Puss but if it's anything like the original it will sound fantastic. But for me 300 ms of delay time is simply not enough. On guitar yes, but not at all on bass.

The Malekko 616 is a great choice IMO.

I didn't care for the Memory Boy's tone. The repeats were too dark for me. But it can have modulation even wackier than the 616 so it gives the added bonus of a crazy noise box if that appeals to you. BUT, if the Memory Boy does have a tone you like, I think it would be better to check out the Deluxe Memory Boy. Tap tempo with subdivisions and expression control with the same analog innards as the Memory Boy would make that a very worthwhile upgrade IMO.

The new Deluxe Memory Man in the smaller enclosure is good, but I think the older version had a much richer sound.

I'm not just saying this because I have one for sale, but if the DMM is on your list, the Analogman ARDX20 should be as well. As far as analog tone, the Analogman is the only pedal that I've ever heard that matches the DMM's richness and warmth. It doesn't have the same modulation capabilities, but it does have an effects loop that can house a mod pedal, or it can be used as an Expression jack to control delay time. Then you have the ability to switch between two preset delays (Feedback, Time, and Mix levels, not just Time). It's awesome.

I got one a few weeks ago for a very low price - digging it so far but was bummed out that the exp input is for delay time and not feedback - will probably send it to Koltai for modding.

Wish there was a smaller version of it - not sure if I need 12 switches worth of tap options?

The 616 gives me a boner. All modulated analog delays do. For 150 I'm about to buy one just because.

Nope. There are a few analog delays with tap tempo (Deluxe Memory Boy, Diamond Memory Lane, the upcoming (?) Malekko 919) but there's no way (that I know of) to add tap tempo to an existing analog delay.

Well, it's definitely possible, but it's far outside the capabilities of the typical modders or DIYers. Tap tempo can be done with CMOS logic, but it makes more sense to go digital, so that would of course require programming. It would make more sense financially to get one that already has TT than to get one modded.

There's a company called Young Pedals that makes a 700ms analog delay with tap tempo called the Time Stomp I believe. I haven't tried it, but he's posted shots of the circuit and the guy definitely knows what he's doing. It looks like something to check out, only wish he had a real website instead of just Myspace...

Now that's what I'm talking about... this thread just keeps gettin' better :D Does anyone here on TB have one of these Time Stomps? I am very interested in an opinion/review on bass... I just watched a couple youtube clips and it was very impressive on guitar
