Sting has collected several of those precious 'once in a lifetime" Fifties Precision basses that he uses in the studio and on tour. IIRC he has a stacked coil or noiseless pickup custom wound by Seymour Duncan. There are several videos and articles about Sting's preferences, there is a good on with his tech Danny Q.

For the rest of us budget is a concern, always.

This is his bass, he won't play any other. This is his preamp, I don't touch the knobs, I just look at them. Easiest bass tech job in the world.

Actually I love Sting, but his choice of basses has nothing to do with mine.

And I seriously doubt he gives a Ruby Red Rat’s A$$ about my choices of basses as well.

I think Sting and I would get along just fine….

The Sting mystery I'd like solved is how he was such a wildly innovative bass player in The Police and as a solo artist, he's almost indifferent to what he plays. Back on topic, I owned a Sting P bass for a spell, it looked amazing but the neck was super chunky and not fun to play.
