I haven't done a big arena show in seven years or so...I might have to go to this.

There last U.S. Date was last night, July 21 2016 , in Seattle.
My wife bought me a VIP 4th row ticket for my birthday.


My favorite part, just after this, was Tony Correcting Sting on the chorus to Solsbury hill.

I was just listening to Bill Burr talk about this on his podcast. He saw them in LA. Said it was great. They're taking turns and playing together and Sting's just playing bass on some stuff.

They're playing Lake Tahoe's makeshift outdoor amphitheater.
Been to shows there before. Not a very comfortable venue.

I'm passing on this one.

I'm a bit tired of retiree money tours.
I wanted to see Sting and Paul Simon since I like both, tickets started at 150. No concert is worth 150.

Geeze, $150 will only buy you the worst seats in the house these days. The first concert I went to (Rush) cost FIFTEEN BUCKS. Center floor, about 20 rows from the stage.

I recall my friends and I getting mildly indignant when Steely Dan went on tour for the first time in like, forever and the tickets cost $45.

Then, you couldn't get a decent seat at a concert for less than $100....

Now, $100 will barely get you inside the building. The people who sit in the same row as I did when I saw Rush for $15 back in 1984 now pay around $1000... Depending on the act, venue, etc. ***?

I couldn't go see Rush's final tour ever because I was just priced out of the event. The only seats I could afford for my wife and myself were so far back, I figured I'd be better off watching the DVD than spending $500 to watch the big screen at the show.

I remember seeing major acts in the '70's for $7.50 for festival seating or general admission.
Bands now need to charge exorbitant ticket prices to make up for their lack of album sales.
I cannot and will not shell out big bucks to see big name acts anymore. Thanks Internet.

Back in the day, it was concert tours that promoted and generated record sales. Albums were the currency of music.
Major bands are barely going Gold these days, let alone Platinum or multiple Platinum like in the '70's.

Most of the shows I go to are at small venues, and ticket prices are under $50. That said, I did just go to a big-ticket show with my wife and paid $160 a pop to see Adele--but we did get ninth row seats in the arena, and my wife loved it, so it was worth it. And I just dropped a similar amount to go see Elvis Costello & the Imposters in October--but again, that got us great seats (11th row). Definitely sticking to cheaper shows for a while after this, though.

Saw this show last night in Calgary.

The performance: awesome. The band(s): killer. The visuals: wild. The sound: horrid.

I was pumped to see two bass players I love, Sting and Tony Levin. But they might as well have left their basses backstage and played air guitar with brooms. Everything was a big muffled mess with humungous kick drum washing over everything.

I was sad.
