Most can't right off either. Buy one, play the crap out of it and save for another.

The HS is a great bass but I tend to lean towards a single H in a Ray 5. Just something about them...

The Big Al sss can get some "Fendery" type sounds, but if you are looking for a Jazz bass tone, none of the EBMM basses are going to really get it.

For the j bass tone, go cheap. I have a jazz I got for $400 that kills. You can't get a really good cheap stingray that I know of, but there are some great bang for the buck Ps and Js out there. Much better J bass tones than the twin pickup ray will provide.

A $350 Classic Vibe Jazz will get a much better Jazz tone than any EBMM bass.
