Stingray 5 Neck Dive

Hi experienced stingray 5 players: I'm looking into getting a Stingray 5 H. I'll probably buy online b/c there's not huge choice locally, and I need a lighter one. But is there a weight below which, typically, neck dive becomes more of a problem? Is 9lbs too light? Would 9.5 lbs be okay re. neck dive?

Sounds like you are saying that if you reduce the body weight the neck might dive, yes?

How do you plan to reduce weight on a stock stingray? Routing the back? Custom body? Lighter bridge?

SR5 is my main player. If weight is a problem, try this strap. Hours of playing? No problem.

I have a sub 9-lb SR5 (haven't gotten an exact weight, but I'd say it's 8.5 lb). It was light as it is, but I put Hipshot Ultralite tuners to make it even lighter. Neck dive was not a problem before.

Lightweight SR5s are so rare. It took me owning 6 of them to finally find a light one by chance. But there have been some really light ones lately (2012-12013) I'm guessing they got a light batch of ash. . .
