Stingray HH vs HS -Tonal Differences

I have have read some threads comparing the HH to the HS configuration. However, I have been unable to find much in the way of sound clips for an HS stingray.

Are there any Stingray HS owners that can provide a sound clip, particularly with the neck pickup solo'd? I have only found one (mediocre) video showing the neck pickup solo'd. I liked the sound of the neck pickup, but this one video is not enough for me to go on.

Also, I would appreciate any input anyone can provide in helping me decide between the HH and HS. I am looking for something that can get some nice smooth Jbass sounds as well as some classic stingray tones. Right now I'm thinking the HS would be better for me.

I find the HH sounds pretty darn muddy IMO.

Its cool if your going for some fat motown stuff... but other than that, its pretty muddy to me.

The HS has a cleaner tone, less thick.

I agree with MG. I've owned and gigged both for a while, settled on the HH. You can get a good dark, P tone that I couldn't get out of the HS. Both are fantastic instruments.

So far it sounds like I should be able to get smoother and cleaner tones out of the HS than the HH. I already find that you can get a pretty dirty (growl) tone out of the single H stingray. It sounds like I could get a wider range of tone out of the HS than the HH.

Unfortunately, The SR HS Slo I've got my eye on will have to be special ordered (I won't be able to return it if I'm not happy with it). Does anyone have a sound sample of the SR HS so I can be more certain that i prefer it to the HH?

I owned an HH once. In fairness, I swapped out the stock pre for a John East BTB MMSR pre. I found that it did a good SR (obviously), and a pretty good jazz bass sound in position 2. With both pickups engaged, it was pretty muddy, but only by Stingray standards, meaning in didn't sound like a Gibson EB or anything. That said, with the sweepable mid control of the East pre, it's really one of the only basses I regret selling.
