stingray question

Why does my stingray 4 sound so damn good played through my 70's 3 way jenson headphones, coming from my small combo. I mean it is so damn fat and growly its instant ac/dc tone. But when i play through the speaker it doesnt sound near as good. give me your thought on why this is please.

i am playing through a peavey basic 60 with a 12 inch speaker, and my big rig is is a peavey mark viii 350 watt hed through a hartke 215 cabinet. neither one seems to produse the full range of the stingray bass . the big rig is just to muddy, and the small combo seems to midrangey and honky sounding, I wanna get an svt 810 cab and the ampeg 300 watt vintage tube head. i want amp to reproduce the full stingray tone spectrum.

I've had both of those amps. Peavey makes some decent stuff, but IMO, those two amps are from a time when Peavey was only a step or two above Radio Shack. Please do yourself a favor and upgrade.
