Stingray5's Sound Different Than 4's

There is a reasonable difference between the two, the StingRay 4 having more punch and bite. It's not a huge difference, but it is noticable to anyone who is familiar with the StingRay.

Right now I'm deciding whether or not to keep my '00 StingRay 4 after buying a StingRay 5 HH and a Bongo 5 HH on the way. Although the tone is slightly different, the versatility of having the extra string and 5-way pickup selector is amazing.

I have a 2015 or 16 stingrsy 5 and they have switched back to the stingray preamp instead of the sterling preamp in earlier stingray 5s. They also changed the pickup magnets back to alnico and they are much fatter and warmer sounding than my earlier rsy5 with ceramic magnets and the Sterling precin it. But my stingray 5 even with the same preamp as the stingray 4 and sane magnets still sounds not as edgy and bright as a 4 string Ray can get. They also removed the single coil switching option and added an enchanced parallel or series mode instead of the single coil switching option.
