stock bridge is heavier than gotoh

I recently purschased a gotoh 201 bridge because i wanted to try something new, but the holes don't match and the only way to install it is to drill new holes.

One thing i noticed is that my stock bridge weighs a lot more than the gotoh, by the way my bass is a charvel 3b neckthru and the stock bridge is jackson.

What are the differences in tone I would notice if I try the gotoh bridge? would it worth it?

I wouldn't do it. Most people change to heavier/higher mass bridges because they think they will achieve some undefined difference in "tone". In practice, some have reported here that they achieved any audible difference; many others have reported no difference.

If the stock bridge weighs more, I can't imagine you can gain anything by changing, and IMO that's a lousy reason to drill holes in an instrument.

If you want to try something new, try a different kind of string. That will make much more difference in sound than any bridge will, plus it's temporary and not very expensive. You can play with strings all you like. (Save the old ones in case you like them better...the change is 100% reversible.)

I changed the bridge on my '75 AV RI Jazz because the stock bridge was flimsy. Compared to the stock bridge, the Gotoh is heavier, sturdier and looks better. I don't think it affected the tone.
