Stomp Box annoyance!

Here's one thing I hate about 99% of the stomp boxes on the market. They require you to remove 4 screws to get to the battery!

Now, I don't even use batteries that often but what a PITA when I need to! Couldn't they for an extra dollar per pedal put a battery door in the darn things? Would it kill them?

Just venting.

i think most pedals in stores like guitarcenter have an easy access way of getting to the battery.

the pedals i have found that you would need to unscrew 4 screws are "boutique" pedals or low production line pedals. It would be a hassle for these builders to cut holes for a battery door. a majority of them out source painting of the boxes which would mean higher costs if they wanted to include extras like that.

if you dont like using batteries... get a onespot

+1 for the one spot...... now if you get it to follow up the instrument cable to attach an active bass as well, you'd have something!

If you have a few pedals (or more than a few) the One Spot or other power supplies pay for themselves pretty fast, with the money you're going to save on batteries.

This is what happens when pedals are designed by engineers that are not musicians and by egocentric companies that don't do any market research. This is the height of ignorance in product design, especially since the plastic battery compartments are available for half a buck.

We fight this mentality all the time as we work with our clients to develop new products. The engineers get this great idea, but never check to see how a device is actually used.

well then like i said in the rest of my reply... the pedals you are likely talking about are not made by large manufacturers and therefore would cost a lot more the the extra dollar more per pedal to add a battery door.

Really, I though the most successful and best selling line of pedals were Boss, they have one screw on the bottom edge. Easy.

I dont see how you can say i am having an attitude when i simply started my reply the same way you started a reply to me?

I have never paid $300 for a boutique pedal. They usually run $100-$200 for the majority which is the same as most larger companies like boss and mxr.

All I have been stating is reasons why builders wouldn't add a battery door and why it wouldn't be just a dollar added to cost.

It's a little annoying but I'd rather have a hand built pedal which sounds awsome but has screws 2 get to the battery out, than a cheap factory made pedal that sounds like **** but the battery placement is convienient.
