Stooges equipment stolen?????

I guarantee at the very least, Mike Watt gets his bass back. I mean, if any one of you happens to come across it in a pawn shop or on eBay or something that you would do the right thing and return it to him. Think of how many sites this has been posted on and how many people have seen it. Someone will eventually find it and return it.

Man, this is shocking – oddly enough, I was going through old TalkBass threads all day, specifically to read about Watt and this exact same bass.

I really hope Watt and the rest of the Stooges get all their gear back, and the sucker who stole all of it gets busted big time.

Oh man, that's terrible! Jeez, I feel bad for Watt. This is the second bass he's used for years that's been ripped off. In the mid-90s, the Frankenbass PJ he used for the latter half of the Minutemen's career and most of the Firehose stuff got stolen, and has never been found.:(

I sure hope he has much better luck this time. Thieving bastards!:mad:

This doesn't look promising since Montreal isn't really known for car thieves. Sure there are a lot of it, like in any big city, but it's not on the level of most of the US metropolises: I would be shocked if this was a freak occurence (ie. petty thieves stealing a truck). And crack fiends usually won't steal a car but a car's content.

Surely if they took away with a truck (a rental truck no less), they certainly knew what was inside of it, meaning the whole thing was planned and they probably ALREADY have buyers waiting for the stuff. Sad.

A lot of very famous and recognizable paintings go missing each year from art galleries and they are never recovered. Doesn't mean the thief kept it for himself once the crime was found out. Means he had an "order" and only acted as an agent.

Man, that's gotta be a nice punch in the gut. That would make me sick to have a bass like that stolen. You'd think a larger act like that would have their gear in some different type of truck or under their bus ( guess there wasn't enough room for all those amps under there though ).

btw, if you actually read that thread you'll see it's the Thelacaster custom built in 2001.........this is a '63 Gibson that was stolen.

In my hometown a rather popular local blues band had their entire trailer of about 30 grand worth of gear stolen by a crackheaded theif. The theif was caught easily enough because he parked the trailer with it's enormous band logos in the driveway of where he was staying at. I guess he must have thought that the police were illiterate, or wouldn't notice. They recovered everything, but sadly the same thing happened again a couple of years later by people who seemed to be a bit smarter as theives. I haven't heard any news yet if the band has recovered anything that was stolen. I hate stupid crimes and criminal activity. I hope Mr. Watt gets his stuff back.

I just wanted to mention that I saw something about this in today's newspaper (or at least, I think it was today's). And it wasn't just in a corner, either. It was at the top right behind the front page! So yeah, the word is definitely getting out.
