hey fellas, i just picked up a sweet '62 reissue precision, but the bitchin' tail piece and pick up cover weren't installed. Should i bring the bass to a store to drill the holes or is this something i can do myself? thanks

You can do it yourself, piece of cake. Might want to use masking tape where you drill so you don't chip the finish.
I can't stand playing with those stupid things as they get in my way.
I have a '62 RI and I will keep the parts in the case in case I ever sell it (same with my '74P).
I would play a bass with the covers on before starting to drill. It seems that very few players keep them on.

Yeah drilling is easy enough if you use the right bit and some time and care.

Those will be collectors items in 20 years (it comes fast, believe me), and drilling for the body candy will devalue it, and if you're like most people, you'll hate them being in the way anyway. Get a cheap one and try it first before you devalue your beautiful new bass!
