street performers

who's done it?
how'd you do it?

any cool ones in your town?

San Francisco has some greats:
the fat opera people on maiden lane
edwin, the tap dancing guy on powell street
the breakdancing kids on market
the string quartet in the mornings at montgomery street bart station
the blind christian accordian player, afternoons at montgomery
there was a guy who set up a tight rope between two trees on maket street, stood on the rope with one foot, and played fiddle. only seen him once though.
the guy who drums on buckets in front of rasputin records-sometimes he has a real drumset, and he plays with a bass player
the jimi hendrix impersonator
the james brown impersonator

i'm thinking of joining the fray with these folks. i'm a block away from the gates to chinatown, so that looks like a pretty good corner for it. i can borrow a battery powered amp from a friend of mine.
practice in public and pick up some beer money!

did you see that they tried to get him to cut that out a few weeks back? then they figured out there's no law against scaring the pants off tourists for money.

Yeah, I saw that. Apparently he's been arrested multiple times for "disturbing the peace". Lame.

Hey, would you be interested in doing a street performing double bass freak out?

hellz yeah i would!
you got any sort of porto-amplification? i just emailed my buddy about borrowing his, and am waiting for a response.

here's the bushman: :ninja: :hiding: :hyper: OOGA BOOGA!

I don't have any portable ampage, but I do have a bass that could handle being in the sun all day. I'm not sure if we'd make any money with the way I play, though.

Tourist: "Can you play some Michael Bolton?"
Me: "Yes, I can." *continues to play weird trash*
Tourist: "Well?"
Me: "Well, what?"

I used to be a street performer back in Arkansas. Not unlike the guy in San Fransisco who jumps out of trashcans and out from behind bushes to scare the hell out of innocent by-standers....I do the same thing...but with a twist...I kick people's asses once they've caught their breath and think they are ok.

There is a line between "street performer" and "violent sociopath". I'm not sure where the line is, as it IS rather fine, but I'm sure there is one...right?

Here is the line.

This is the "street performer" side
