I purchased an Elrick Gold EVO 5 String which has a 35" scale. I went to purchase D'Addario NYXL strings and they have both long scale and super long scale (no specs on their website). I contacted Elrick and they were no help. Any idea what I need? The SLs are $13 more a set. Any idea if I need to super longs strings on this bass?

NYXL45130 $26.99
NYXL45130SL (SL for super long) $39.99

D'Addario "long scale" = 36 7/8" from ball end to taper.
D'Addario "super long scale" = 38" from ball end to taper.

If the bridge is for top loading the "long scale" should be long enough. If you want to make sure, you can measure the distance on your bass from where the ball end is seated to the tuner side of the nut. If it's less than 36 7/8", then you're good to go with "long scale".

If it's for thru-body, you will probably need the "super long scale".

you could check the actual length from saddle to nut against the measurements at Invalid Link Removed
For measurement for the correct "winding length", it should be "ball end anchor point to nut". "Saddle to nut" would only give you the "scale length", not "winding length.

I really don't like the idea D'Addario uses the term "scale length", when it should be "winding length".

Sorry, I miss-stated, and you are correct! You have to account for the extra distance between the saddle and the anchor point.
