Hey everybody,
I'll be playing a few gigs in Latvia next year, and since I can't bring my bass with me, and renting will be next to impossible (I'm a lefty), I've decided to take my Framus Triumph EUB out of retirement for these gigs.
However, I haven't played that EUB for five or six years, since I prefer to play the real thing, and I'll be needing to get a new set of strings for the Triumph. So I'm turning to y'all for advice.
On my "real" bass, I have Animas which I like very much. I also love plain gut. But the Triumph has a magnetic pickup so all of those options are out. The sound I'm trying to avoid above all is that awful fretless whine the bass has with Spirocores. I'd like something really dark and thumpy, with as little sustain as possible. Low tension would be a plus, so I can raise the bridge. Bowability isn't a concern because the flat bridge arch makes the bass practically unbowable anyway.
Here are some strings I've been considering:

- Eurosonic Lights
- Flexocors
- the new Belcantos
