Double Bass string tension

I have velvet blues on my bass. Very nice but I am not crazy about the G string. Do gut strings have less tension than steel or rope core strings?

In need of a G string.. Possibly D string as well..

I'm no expert, but I think it's fair to guess gut strings might vary somewhat - depending on who makes them, etc. The TAMU chart has numbers for a Pyramid string, reported to be 22Kg tension for the smaller strings - the lightest string on the chart - but I don't know how representative that is. Velvet Blues should be 25Kg, on the light side of the range for ordinary G strings, which seems to be 25Kg to 29 or 30Kg.

Anyway, I would think Blues E and A would get along OK with gut G and D. I've thought about trying that myself.
