Nice video! Quick and to the point, with a fun intro/outro to boot.

Pretty clear differences between these two sets -- the Dunlop Marcus Miller set is more reminiscent of Marcus's sound, to me.

Between the two, the D'Addarios are more present in the mids -- the Dunlops are scooped and almost sound compressed, in contrast. I could see preferring either in different settings, but I'd probably lean toward the D'Addarios as a more versatile, safer bet for me.

I've got a set of the (NY)XLs on my main bass right now -- first time trying those. There's nothing that sticks out about them, tonally -- nothing that grabs me as exciting, off the bat -- but they're even sounding and everything seems to be there. Bass has sounded good, live, and I've gotten compliments on the sound.

I've had Smith Burners, DR (Hi Beams, I think?), and Kallium strings on that bass before, and all have sounded good (if a little different). Had a set of Slinkys that were just okay on that bass -- my brother said they sounded "like a ham sandwich -- fine, but nothing to get excited about." I like the NYXLs more -- and I'm told they last a long time -- but we'll see.

I haven't tried them but I will look forward to try them. The price difference between a regular D'addarios and NYXL is pretty significant.

I second that! I've got a few different basses and they are usually strung with a various sets of strings.

I'm not sure what the set cost -- had them put on when my bass was getting some work done and it was part of the price. I suppose that, if they last long enough ("They last forever," I was told.), it might offset the extra cost. I'm lucky that strings usually last a good stretch for me.

I second that! I've got a few different basses and they are usually strung with a various sets of strings.

I'll third that -- some strings that I like on some basses I dislike on others. As I get to know the bass, I usually have some idea of what'll work well on it and what won't, but it's hard to know exactly how something will work 'til you've tried it. I also find that some instruments are more finicky than others.

I still find demos like this useful!

The goal is to try all the strings available on the market.
However, buying too much of them at a time would ruin my budget

I order strings once in a while and add sound samples to the library.
A new set of strings allows to make several videos.
I'll compare them to string sets I've already recorded.
