Strings for Ric sound on a non Ric

Aria pro 32 scale Japan a rare and interesting bass from early 80s.

I can describe the tone as more Ric than anything else..2 guitar sized humbuckers which i haven't measured where they are located but bridge and middle/neck but not against the neck.

I had nickel rounds for years now 9050 Fender SS flats.

So considering it leans toward Ric sounds, what would be the ideal RW SS rounds?

Clank and growl!

The action can get stupid low as the neck is outstanding but how low should the action be?

What say you folks? Thanks in advance!

There is no such thing. You can put on Roto Swingbass stainless, about the brightest strings out there, and all they will do is sound bright. Lower the action, and they will fret buzz, not really the clank you get with such a setup on a Rickenbacker. I have posted this before: NOTHING ELSE sounds like a Rickenbacker. You can pick out a particular attribute, such as brightness, clang, sustain, etc., but at the expense of the rest of the characteristics that make a Rickenbacker bass what it is: the synergy of the materials, pickup placement, scale length, and all the other details. An Aria Pro II is actually Precision Bass inspired with, yes, the neck-through construction that many basses, including Rickenbacker, have. Enjoy what you have until you can save your money to purchase a Rickenbacker.

Ha thank you...it's a bolt neck Aria with a neck and bridge pickup it sounds similar to an Ric and nothing like a P bass.

I could change pickups but I want to try another set of strings.

I wanted opinions on what strings are known to have clank and growl for this bass I will play occasionally.

I have no desire to buy a Ric or any other bass it's not a sound I would use much.

Like iiipopes said, Rotosound 66s are the classic sound. But they die too fast for me. The Roto tone is the one I've searched for and come close with Marcus Miller Dunlop Super Brights and DR Lo-Riders. Other good mentions would be DR Fat Beams or Hi-Beams.
Thanks. Second behind Roto Swingbass are GHS SuperSteels. They last a little longer.
