Strobe Tuner

Doesn't hurt to have more than one tuner.
I got IK UltraTuner on an iPad and it's accurate. I also have a peterson
One thing the UltraTuner has is pitch over time, which when you're doing intonation is very handy.
I'm sure plenty of other App tuners have the same, but I just happened to get this when they had it for free.

The Turbo Tuner is very solidly built and super fast. If I had to have just one to do it all this would be it....a very worthwhile investment. My one complaint with it is that tuning always mutes the sound and doing setups or tuning acoustic instruments on stage don't like taking my ears out of play simultaneous to using the tuner.
that's why for setups and such the other turbo tuner is the ticket, the one that passes through signal and isn't a stomp box. FWIW i'm the same way with wanting to hear at the same time i tune (makes it much faster for me) so the two gigging boards i have the stompbox turbo on are rigged to split off signal upstream and send it to the tuner, so i can mute the signal or not and the tuner works either way.
Lately too I've been using the Peterson StroboSoft on my iPad and honestly for $10 it's a great deal. It actually picks up a note slightly faster than the VS-1 and the massive display is kinda cool.
the app kicks ass, i think it's very likely better than what the old "VS" blue boxes or even the strobostomps could do. after all, the app is working on a gadget (iphone or ipad) with way finer screen resolution and way more processing power. (it was one of the apps that made me say "oh wow i need to get an iphone" in the first place.)

they've just updated the app, and now offer a "harmonic tuning" upgrade that "unlocks" the different bands of the display to show different harmonics, just like a real analog strobe. i'm tempted, but not quite $20 upgrade fee tempted.

Does the StroboSoft app, support the Android or Windows platform? That sounds like something I would love to have on my Phone and laptop

EDIT: Instead of asking, I guess I should have just searched for it and found it available on Android :D

I haven't seen the other one in real life but for the bench it's probably pretty perfect. Still if the the stomp box were selectable like the old StroboStomp was it would really be a superb does-all box. I know price is always an issue and this thing ain't cheap as it is but that flexibility is something I'd gladly pay for. I miss it enough with acoustic instruments I'll probably end up going to go back to the StroboStomp for those gigs.

Man heard "update" and got all excited. Then I heard $20 and got slightly less exited. If I didn't already own several good tuners though I would probably go for it.

Hey @Hopkins can I ask for an update on this old thread? What did you wind up with? Im looking for something new and a little better than the clip on tuners I've been using. It seems Sonic Research is only offering the st-300 now. It's a pedal style. Anyone have any opinions or info about that one or any small bench style tuners currently on the market worth looking at? Thanks!

Many of the best tuners are on IOS
An ipod can be had for about the same price

I have an iPhone. What tuner app would you recommend? I think the Peterson app was mentioned in this thread earlier. I hadn't really considered an app tuner mostly because the concept is totally foreign to me. I'm not much up on technology. How do they interface with the instrument? Do you need a special cable? Thanks for answering what I'm sure to some are dumb questions.

I wound up not buying anything and using a phone app
