Stuck with Hysteria for 2 months. No improvements.

It doesn't seem that difficult of a riff.

Humm,it takes little time to figure it out using open strings.(A/E/D)
If you create some exercise using alternating strings (one simple example would be sweet emotion by aerosmith opening riff,compare it yourself,same concept in my book,but I play it using all 16th notes which makes it much more similar ),this would come naturally.

Don't want to dampen your enthusiasm since you are new, young (apparently), and eager to learn. Judging by your previous threads, perhaps learning Hysteria right now should take a back seat to learning simple fundamentals & theory. You need to learn to walk before you run, or, to take a scene out of The Karate Kid -->

If two months and u r struggling, then leave it- as someone said, concentrate on bassics
- I mean no disrespect btw but sounds like u r not up to this yet
I say simplify your riffing and really concentrate on landing those clean notes

For hysteria though - make sure u r playing it right
It sounds really complex but other then the memory game, it isn't desperately difficult as it is one of those riffs with natural comfortable flow
its loosely a running riff alternating with lots of opens so u can really muscle into it

Chris Wolstenholme is one of the greatest of modern time -
I don't do jazz so can't speak for those guys (absolute respect acknowledged of course) but Chris W can hold serious momentum with powerhouse riffing

Back to landing the cleans, muse can be of great benefit but pick some of their other pieces
Panic station for a simple slap riff and u can't go wrong with supremacy or super massive black hole
- check their war child gig on you tube for plenty of close up work
