stutter pedal build query

Hey

So I'm a complete n00b to building pedal and I thought a passive stutter pedal would be an easy place to start, like this one:

However my imagination has got the best of me and now i would like to build the bottom one. Simple enough however I would like to have the pot foot controlled so I can slow the stutter down to a dead stop to finish songs. There are two ways I can see to do this: One buy a second have wah pedal and take out the circuit and replace the switch. This is what I was going to do first but wah pedals are big and bulky. The second is to do the same as the beavis but use a LDR instead of the pot. The question is: is this possible what LDR would I use instead of the 500k pot? and what resistance LDR 8k to 500k?

Also, The pot only adjusts how much volume is lost when you hit the stutter switch. Are you trying to adjust this while you hit the switch?

Perhaps you want a tremolo instead?

I've never thought about a tremolo before I'll have to go and have a look. I was under the impression that the volume pot would control the amount of stutter. So the "gaps" between the signal would get longer or shorter.

The stutter effect is controlled by the footswitch. You change the speed by changing how often you step on the switch.

Ah ok. I was reading it as the switch would pulse the signal though and the pot would dictate the speed.

Oh well back to the drawing board

I built this. works fairly well. the only problem was that the pot didnt do anything- at any point on its rotation, all of the signal was cut. although its possible i did something wrong.

Very, very easy to build, and (I think) it sounds FANTASTIC with bass. so that gets my vote. (note: i believe I used a 2n904 transistor, as it was all I had at the time. works fine.)

As well, make sure to research offboard wiring so you know what to do with the footswitch, the battery, etc.

What you're talking about is a tremolo

Not a kit but Fuzzrocious has a sweet tremolo with a momentary foot switch to alternate between 2 speeds. Mr. Ratajski is just too modest to mention it.

Click the Fuzzrocious Pedals link in rratajski's sig. He makes some really nice pedals and the trem he builds has a separate foot switch to switch between to speeds. So you could definitely do a slow setting and stomp the switch to an even slower setting and then stop it off. I think that would work for your slow fades to nothing sound description. I know if I could afford it I would order a Tremorslo. Hell, if I could afford it I'd order pretty much one of everything on the Fuzzrocious site.

As another idea, most if not all multi's with an expression pedal built (or plugged) in will allow you to assign tremolo speed to the exp.

The problem with the exp. Pedal way is that then I need to buy 2 pedal when one would suffice.

Why not buy that? It's SUPER cheap! He makes one w/ expression control.
