sub £400 pound amplifier recommendations

I'm a skint student and I'm looking to upgrade my Ashdown MAG 250 combo too a head and cab, I've already purchased an Ashdown 4x10 cab so I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a head, I play in a metal band doing local gigs and I have to compete with a 75w Peavy vipyr and a 50w Vox valvetronix combo, I also prefer to have a little tubey bite to my ton

There's no better bargain out there right now than the Ashdown MiBass 2.0. Can be had for less than £300 and it's awesome. Will obviously pair very well with your Ashdown cab.
