SUB5 vs BZ5000

So, I have a 5 string (2008 or so Chinese Warwick Corvette). I've played it in bands for years, but still have never felt entirely comfortable with it. I play it fine, but it's hard to explain. ..just doesn't feel or sound natural. I actually find the sound to be somewhat generic, for some reason. ...

Anyway, I'm looking at getting a different 5 string. After hearing many nice things around here about EBMM S.U.B. (and because my arsenal lacks anything EB), I went and tried one. I really like it and it's price. Sterling Ray5 S.U.B. series - Honeyburst Satin, Rosewood Fretboard

But I'm also super interested in another bass. One I cannot try in any local stores. I have previously owned a Harley Benton PB50, and thought it rather nice. This is obviously a step up from that, and I'd like to know if anyone has experience with the following. ..

They definitely have their similarities and differences. I like both designs. What say everyone?

I was at guitar center playing around with a sub ray 4 and loved it. I have never tried a 5 string before but am considering getting a sub ray 5 what can you tell me about the differences between a 4 and 5 string

5 string adds a low B string underneath the E string. That's the only functional difference between the two models. I happen to prefer the design of the pickguard on the 5 as well, but that's just personal taste.

I had one of those Chinese Corvette 5's. I honestly could not get along with its tone and sold it a month after I got it.

If you like the SUB Ray 5, step up to the Ray35 and you'll be blown away...

I honestly don't care for the SUB models of today....but that's my opinion.

I had a real Stingray back in the day. Great bass, but not in the budget right now. i really liked the SUB I played the other day.

The Sterling Sub is a super bass especially at that price point. I had 4 of them at one time - I guess I really liked them. lol. I currently use a Musicman Sub while there are a few differences, the Sterling Sub isn't a bad option at all. Sorry, haven't tried the Harley Benton to give you my opinion about it, it does look nice as well though - however, if you really want that Ray sound, your best option is getting a Ray of some kind (MM, Sterling or Sub).
