NIGHT 1:

no sleep because it had just arrived and it's TOO AWESOME (and stacks perfectly with any other pedal that also exudes elements of awesome), to the point of reconsidering the need for any other.

NIGHT 2:

horror, regret, distress, rage, and overall existential despair because something in it is most likely FRIED.

........

couldn't sleep a wink. this has been and continues to be the most traumatic bass-related experience of my life. stupid, avoidable, and utterly devastating.

i needed to share this gloom with others that would relate.

okay. *deep breath*

I was playing through the SubT for various hours, worked like a dream.

THEN..i had to do a small rehearsal with a community after-school music club with small children and my usual drummer, who is an active participant/teacher at this community club. I figured i could use the octave effect for the main riff of the song we were doing with them, use this opportunity to show off the SubT to another musician, and also cram in an impromptu rehearsal of some of our repertoire once the kids left.

I didn't need to bring all 5 of my pedals, I thought, just the new SubT. I unplugged the One-Spot from the daisy chain, grabbed a single adapter, and brought the One and the adapter.

At the rehearsal, i set up my amp volume, then the pedal volume, i step on it, adjust volume, and am baffled why i don't hear any effect. Just clean tone, which yes changes volume when i move the knobs. Stunned, I do the routine plug check of all of my instrument cables and power cables. I turn it on again...no octave effect.

We then play the song. I step on the SubT after playing the riff once...and no octave.

I was a bit worried at this point, so i didn't touch the pedal until the end of the rehearsal. At this point it occurred to me that i did not NEED a "single adapter" if i had the One-Spot regular power supply.....as is THAT is what powers one pedal. Here i sweated and shook and couldn't remotely pay attention to anything said to me.

After unplugging the stupid adapter (which I later swore at and threw many, many times at my concrete walls and floor of my basement upon return to my abode), once everyone had left, i did a sound check of the SubT with the appropriate and rightful power.

Results: LED works FINE. Clean volume FINE. Octave effect VEERRYY SOFT. Synth voices cranked up also VERY SOFT.

Error: L6 adaptor exposure, estimated time 90 seconds total.

Level of trauma: total devastation.


Is there hope here?
