The new style Alpha 6 is one to consider. It actually has 3.5mm Xmax, compared to 0.0mm for the old style. The Eminence PXB2:800 is an internal crossover with a 12dB slope for the woofer, and 18dB slope for the mid-range. This will keep the Alpha out of danger,

800hz is very high. The Alpha 6 will go much lower. I use an older one in a cab which crosses over at 250Hz. Unless you are feeding a 100hz signal or thereabouts to the Alpha 6, the 3.5mm Xmax doesn't really mean much do you not think?

Bruce originally suggested an 800 Hz one, which jibes with what's worked well for me with 15s or 12s crossing to a 6. As he said, just make sure your crossover design factors in the actual impedances of the two drivers you end up using. Those links I sent you allow you to roll your own pretty easily.

I'm not opposed to a separate chamber in the 110 for the midrange. Still exploring options.

That's not optional, it's mandatory. If not sealed the midrange cone will act as a passive radiator, throwing off the cabinet tuning. Making a separate chamber unnecessary is the reason why most dedicated midranges have sealed baskets.

Actually, I was referring to using a midrange driver that did not come with a sealed back.

Not only will one without it's own chamber throw off tuning, it will probably be ripped out on the first loud, low note. Basically a passive radiator for a nanosecond.

I'm still thinking about using the BP102's in two Omni 10.5's. Since I already have plywood and the speakers, what do the crossovers and tweeters cost to build the half Omni's?

I'm thinking the Omni's might still give me a small cab, but with better output. Everything I've read on them points to a well designed cab and a half Omni 110 sure is a small little cab.

O10.5s use piezo tweeters, so there is no crossover. With the low sensitivity of the BP102 a pair per woofer series wired would be sufficient to level and power match the woofers.

I found one piezo tweeter (Goldwood from Partsexpress) online where the dimensions look like they'd fit the Omni 10.5 (as far as I can tell given photos, with them aligned one over the other vertically on the side).

This tweeter has a frequency range of 1,800-30,000 Hz. The BP102's go up to 2000Hz. Also the sensitivity of them is 90dB, whereas the BP102's are 92dB. Is this a good tweeter to use?
